- BIRTH: Thomas is identified as a stepson in the will of Richard Hampden of Thornbury, 7 Jan 1550, proved 22 Jan 1551/2, P.C.C., 2 Powell (FHL #091926). Hampden's will shows that he married the widow Cicely Hilpe. Cicely was apparently the widow of Thomas Hilpe who appears in an undated chancery suit, no doubt from the early 1520s, alleging that he married Cicely, dau of Thomas Hickes, but was deprived of his rightful legacy from the will of Thomas Hickes by the widow Ellen Hickes (Chancery Proceedings, PRO C1/528/2 21531, by corr, James Butler-Sloss, London, 1996). Date and place of birth are approximations.
