- BIRTH: Henry is mentioned 2nd in the will of his father, William Bert of Stradbroke, 2 Mar 1555/6, proved 6 Nov 1556, Archdeaconry Court of Suffolk, reg wills, 17:387 (FHL #096917). He is also mentioned 2nd in the will of his grandmother, Margery Godbold of Dennington, 15 Nov 1542, proved 14 Dec 1542, Archdeaconry Court of Suffolk, reg wills, 14:283 (FHL #096914). Date and place of birth are approximations.
MAR: No mar rec found. The will of Henry Bert, below, identifies a wife Agnes. She is apparently the dau of Richard Greenlinge of Stradbroke, whose will, 12 Aug 1558, proved 8 Dec 1558, gave to the children of son-in-law Henry Bert (P.C.C., 11 Welles [FHL #091,934]). The will of William Greenlinge of Stradbroke, 28 Mar 1599, proved 11 Sep 1599, gives to "my sister Bearte...Frances her daughter...and...all her sonnes" (P.C.C., 71 Kidd [FHL #092005]). Henry Bert had children baptized at Stradbroke, 1559-1576, including a dau Frances, 6 Jan 1562/3. The other surviving children were sons (G. S. Cary, comp, "Abstract of Baptisms in the Parish of Stradbroke, Suffolk" [typescript, 1941], 8-17 [FHL #991991 item 8]).
