- BIRTH: No birth/chr rec found. Sarah identified herself as a sister to Jonathan Pond in a deposition, 19 Nov 1657, in Jonathan Pond's estate recs, Suffolk Co. Probate, #172, (n.s.) 2:513-14 (FHL #594359). Jonathan is almost certainly a son of Robert Pond of Dorchester. The difficulty in this relationship lies in the age of "neere 17 years" recorded for Sarah in the above deposition. If accurate, her age calculates to an approximate birth year of 1640, three years after the death of her supposed father. Nevertheless, as the evidence is strong that Jonathan is Robert's son, it is believed that Sarah's age is a clerical error. Another possibility is that she is an illegitimate dau of the widow Mary Pond.
