Matthew Woodruff was in the Conn. Colony by 1 Jun 1643 when he was a defendant in a law suit, but town of residence is not stated (J. H. Trumbull and Charles J. Hoadly, eds, THE PUBLIC RECORDS OF THE COLONY OF CONNECTICUT, 15 vols. [Hartford, 1850-90], 1:87-88 [FHL #974.6 N2c]). The family was in Farmington by Feb 1653 when Matthew purchased his homestead (Susan Woodruff Abbott, WOODRUFF GENEALOGY [Milford, CT, 1963], 1 [FHL #929.273 W86a]).
