    MAR #1: No mar rec found. A wife Annabel is mentioned in the will of Peter Blossom of Stapleford, 12 Jun 1597, proved 16 Jul 1597, Consistory Court of Ely, reg wills, V:367 (FHL #173476).
    MAR #2: Stapleford par reg (FHL #1040547 item 4). Given name of husband is not stated. However, he was no doubt the Richard Bracher of Cambridge whose widow Annabel was granted administration of his estate, 4 Oct 1617, Archdeaconry Court of Ely, adm, 1613-1643, fo. 37 (FHL #186670).
    DEATH: No death/bur rec found. Annabel was living at Cambridge on 4 Oct 1617 when she was granted adm of the estate of her husband Richard Bracher, above.

    Notes:

    BIRTH: Thomas's place as a son of Peter Blossom of Gt. Shelford and Stapleford is not proved but seems highly probable. Thomas married at Cambridge in 1605, but his baptism is not found in any of the Cambridge parishes. It is known that Peter Blossom's widow Annabel married Richard Bracher at nearby Stapleford and removed to Cambridge where Richard Bracher died. Annabel was granted administration of the estate of Richard Bracher of Cambridge on 4 Oct 1617. The will of Peter Blossom of Stapleford, 12 June 1597, proved 16 Jul 1597 mentions minor children but does not name them, suggesting he had children younger than those found in the par reg of Great Shelford (Consistory Court of Ely, reg wills, V:367 [FHL #173476]). It is also noteworthy that Thomas named one of his own sons Peter, which was unusual for a devout Puritan unless the child was named for a close family member. Puritans generally avoided the name Peter, as it smacked of the papacy. For additional discussion, see John I. Coddington and Maclean W.     BUR: Leyden bur rec cited in Henry Martyn Dexter and Morton Dexter, THE ENGLAND AND HOLLAND OF THE PILGRIMS (London, 1906; repr Baltimore, 1978), 603 (FHL #942 K2de). This unnamed child is buried in the Pieterskerk churchyard in Leyden.

    Notes:

    BIRTH: No birth/chr rec found. A son is mentioned in a letter from Thomas Blossom of Leyden, Holland to Gov. William Bradford of Plymouth, 15 Dec 1625: "God hath taken away my son, that was with me in the ship [Speedwell], when I went back again; I have only two children which were born since I left you." ("Governor Bradford's Letter Book," MAYFLOWER DESCENDANT, 5[1903]:165-67 [FHL #974.4 D25md]). It is clear that this son was born prior to the sailing and return of the "Speedwell" in 1620 and died before the date of the letter.

    Notes:

    BIRTH: No birth rec found, but Elizabeth no doubt belongs to the family of Thomas Blossom, the only family of this name in the colony. She must have been born between 1620 and 1625, as Thomas Blossom of Leyden wrote to Gov. William Bradford of Plymouth, 15 Dec 1625: "I have only two children which were born since I left you." ("Governor Bradford's Letter Book," MAYFLOWER DESCENDANT, 5[1903]:165-67 [974.4 D25md]). Since Elizabeth married in 1637, she must have been born near 1620. The family left Leyden in 1629.

This Elizabeth is clearly the widow of Edward Fitz Randolph. On 26 Jun 1685, four days before her mar to Pike, Elizabeth Fitz Randolph of Piscataway, widow, deeded her four sons various tracts of land in Piscataway. ("Patents and Deeds of New Jersey," NEW JERSEY ARCHIVES, 1st series, 21[1899]:120-21 [FHL #974.9 B49a]). Several of these sons are recorded in Barnstable, Mass. church and vital recs. See Louise A. Christian and Howard S. Fitz Randolph, THE DESCENDANTS OF EDWARD FITZ RANDOLPH AND ELIZABETH BLOSSOM (Privately printed, 1950), 5 (FHL #929.273 F583c).
    DEATH: No death rec found. She was living on 30 Jun 1685, date of 2nd mar, above.
    BUR: Tradition indicates she was buried at St James Church Yard, Piscataway (Christian, DESCENDANTS OF EDWARD FITZ RANDOLPH, 5).

    Notes:

    BIRTH: No birth rec found, but Thomas no doubt belongs to the family of Thomas Blossom, the only family of this name in the colony. He must have been born between 1620 and 1625, as Thomas Blossom of Leyden wrote to Gov. William Bradford of Plymouth, 15 Dec 1625: "I have only two children which were born since I left you." ("Governor Bradford's Letter Book," MAYFLOWER DESCENDANT, 5[1903]:165-67 [974.4 D25md]). Thomas Blossom was on a list of males aged 16 and over able to bear arms in the town of Barnstable in 1643 (Nathaniel B. Shurtleff and David Pulsifer, eds, RECORDS OF THE COLONY OF NEW PLYMOUTH, 12 vols. [Boston, 1855-61], 8:187-96 [FHL #974.4 N2n]). This confirms that Thomas was born in or before 1627. The family left Leyden in 1629.

    BIRTH: No birth/chr rec found. No proof has been found that Peter is a son of Thomas Blossom, but his name, age, and residence in Barnstable leave little doubt of his parentage. Thomas Blossom was the only man of this name in the colony, and Thomas's widow removed to Barnstable with her 2nd husband. Peter was born in 1627 or later, as he was not 16 in 1643 when the list of men in the colony able to bear arms was compiled. He was most likely born in Leyden, Holland where the family resided, 1609-1629.
